About us
Algeria with Hattie began after a trip to Algeria with my Algerian-American husband and our toddler.
Less than 2.5 hours from London, the country offers world-class food, rich culture, dramatic landscapes, and layers of history that rival far more visited destinations. What stood out most wasn’t just how much there was to see, but how few people seemed to know about it.
Before going, Algeria felt hard to plan and difficult to navigate. And once we arrived, it became clear how much you miss without local knowledge — something we benefited from thanks to my husband’s family. Even newer travel guidebooks skip some of the best parts: the neighbourhood spots, the street chewa BBQs, the small family-run places that make travel feel real.
So we created the resource we wish we’d had before travelling — and one that would be even more valuable without friends or family on the ground.
Algeria with Hattie exists to make travelling in Algeria simpler, clearer, and more accessible — especially for English-speaking visitors who want a more authentic experience.
We share honest advice, trusted recommendations, and local insight to help you plan with confidence and travel well once you’re there.
We also care about fairness. Too often, large tour operators charge Western prices while paying poor local wages. Our local partners receive 100% of what you pay — supporting families and small businesses directly.
Right now, this is a small, personal project. If travellers find it useful, we’ll keep building it based on what people actually need: practical information, clarity, and trusted connections.
If you’re curious about Algeria or planning a trip, you’re in the right place. And even if you don’t use our services, we hope the information helps.
Feel free to get in touch with questions or feedback.
With love,
Hattie & family ????
