Algeria with Hattie

Honest travel, local insight, real experiences.

We’re passionate about helping travellers explore Algeria with confidence by offering free advice, practical resources, and trusted local insight to help plan your trip. Through our handpicked local partners, we also offer unique experiences — from authentic cooking classes in the heart of Algiers, “Cooking with Amel,” to private driver services through “Drivers by Hattie.” We also provide bespoke trip planning and local support for visits to Algiers and the surrounding areas, working closely with each client to design personalised itineraries based on their interests, pace, and budget. 100% of profits go directly to local providers.

As an Algerian-American-British family, we help independent travellers understand more about Algeria, how to plan a trip, and how to travel once they’re there — with practical advice and trusted local recommendations.

We share free, honest guidance for anyone visiting Algeria, and help you book reliable services when you’re ready — including our own driver service, Drivers by Hattie.

Whether you’re just researching or ready to plan, you’re in the right place.

About

We started Algeria with Hattie after travelling here as a family and realising how hard it can feel to plan — even though the country is incredible to visit.

Algeria is opening up to tourism. In 2024, the country welcomed around 3.5 million visitors. This is still tiny in comparison to Tunisia’s 10 million the same year.

Our goal is simple: make Algeria travel easier, fairer and more accessible.
